Blah, silly rt.cpan with its authenticated URLs. Yes, the bug you just linked to is the one I just found.
http://rt.cpan.org/NoAuth/Bugs.html?Dist=autodie is the list without requiring auth. One of those is not-a-bug, but still a source of endless frustration.
@Shiny: Perl 6 actually has a completely different mechanism for built-in exceptions. It has what are better described as "delayed exceptions" by default. I'm not sure what I think of them yet.

It will indeed be my first core module. It's been "approved for core", although the patch hasn't actually gone in yet. The patch is rather large, because not only does it make significant structural changes to Fatal, but it also because it comes with a few hundred tests to make sure that works.
